Nature within Reach

Horticulturist Charles Culpepper, the original owner of this five-acre tract, lends his name and his legacy to today’s Culpepper Garden.

Before he made the property available to build Culpepper Garden, Dr. Culpepper bred daffodils and daylilies on the property — and they still grow in the gardens today.

A walking path makes the grounds accessible to all residents. And green-thumbed residents can grow flowers and vegetables on their own accessible garden plots.

Find out more about the history and maintenance of the gardens.
